You tell them when you want to work, they consider it just like any employer and say yes or no.0 -
You will find it depends on the role within the supermarkets, some roles will be mon to fri and others will require workling 1 day at the weekend.0

I work for one of the other big supermarkets and unless you stat on your application that you are willing to do weekends an unsociable hours you will not even get to the interview stage.
Our store is full of women who would kill to get hours like those you want. At the moment because of the school holidays they have notices in the canteen offering o help anyone who is struggling with childcare.
that help consists of
A list of local nurseries with available places
or
Letting you swop your rest day if there is availability. The problem with that is that to get time off in the week you have to swop for a weekend day and work that.
If there were jobs going for the hour you want then there would be loads of internal applicants.
I don't think the supermarkets will be the answer for you as most positions want you either late nights or weekends.
I also have a friend who works on school cleaning but she has had to work during the summer holidays as that is when they do what she calls the 'bottoming' cleaning. Getting at all the bits that are not accessible during the normal school usage.0 -

Yes I realise that. I do know that these jobs are hard to get. I just wanted to see if there was any jobs that I may not of considered. I am am going to ring all the local schools when they go back and register with some agencies. Maybe some local shops or cafes might have some hours around lunchtime.0 -
If you have a degree you could register with agencies to do cover supervising in schools or notetaking in unis. I do both to supplement my permanent part time job and can make some decent money.0

Hmm that sounds interesting. I have a masters in food science so that could be good. I need to find agencies that can help me with that0 -
NHS bank work? They employ nursing auxiliaries, admin staff, medical secretaries etc and is really flexible. Each NHS Trust should have their own staff bank.0
