Food processor :(

My favourite attachment for my food processor just died
I use the whipping attachment loads for making cakes and things, the other day it started making a louder noise than usual when it was going, and today it snapped completely
It's a fairly old machine that came to me 2nd hand from my nana, when I went to university 6 years ago and she'd moved into sheltered accomodation and didn't use it anymore. It's a Braun CombiMax 600, I've been onto the manufacturers and rang a few suppliers and apparently all the replacement parts are discontinued

The machine still works for all its other functions, but I'm really going to miss just being able to whip up cakes quickly!! And meringues will be a nightmare now
Is it worth buying a new machine just because I've broken the one attachment?? I hadn't budgeted for a new food processor.

Could you just get the Tesco value handmixer for under a fiver?

Or the Cookworks one for under £4 from Argos?

Just a thought, but is it worth asking on Freecycle, or even looking on ebay to see if you can get a replacement attachment. A long shot I know, but you never know.0

trying making a meringue with a whisk, it only takes 5 -10 mins.:A Boots Tart :A0

I really sympathise with you Emma, this thread came up in a search I did on google for exactly the same replacement part. I bought this processor for £1 at a boot sale a couple of years ago and love it. It's used pretty much daily, and I was making meringues when the whisk went.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0 -
I hope the tesco hand mixer is better than the stick blender!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
