Thursday 30th July - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning all
Thanks for starting the thread Jojo
List for today:
Check banks (done)
Load of washing on (done but need to peg it outside when finished)
Then put another load on - I have stripped the bed - hope it doesn't rain again today :eek: Done, got both lots dry, plus another load :T
Figure out instructions for post office surveys - I received the first materials yesterday, and the guidance is confusing to say the least, including logging on to a website which is not specified using details I have not been supplied with. Hmm, I noticed the name of the company who run it and am not surprised..... Still, they also sent me a load of stamps as an incentive, so I will perseverePrinted out the (lengthy) guidance and read it. Hopefully all will become clear!
Make a big casserole in my new slow cooker using the reduced beef I got in Sainsburys yesterday and all the bendy veg from the fridgeDone, only used 1 pack of the mince and loads of veg, made enough for today, plus at least another day
Make some soup for lunch while I am at it Mmm potato annd carrot, much nicer than it sounds, low in calories and ultra cheap
Make some scones or similar (I can have one without ruining my diet as long as I account for it, as they are low in sugar and fat) Made some apple ones
Sort out shallots which are currently languishing in the wood store. I must do this, as it has slipped off my list beforeThey will go mouldy this damp weather if I don't get on and do it! Oops forgot this
Must prioritise for tomorrow!
See if hens want cleaning out OK today
Pick any garden produce that is ready A courgette and some French beans
Pop down to sales unit if I get time Didn't make it today
OK, i had better get that casserole going!
Hope everyone has a good day, especially those who were struggling a bit yesterday for various reasons!0 -
Morning DFW-Jedis,
Thanks for the starter JoJo.
I have to take my OH to the dentist this morning to assess damaged bridgework. I just know this is going to be financially and medically complicated. She's never had a simple dental appointment yet. Deep breaths.
Better do as much DFW-style stuff as I can to offset the 'damage'.
Nillionaire Month Two:
:grinheart Do Royal Mail Surveys.
:grinheart Post small eBay item I sold. Used www.parcel2go.com to find the cheapest courier. Made £1.31.
:grinheart Do iSay surveys.
:grinheart Download payslip as tomorrow is payday. I'm praying they get my wages right as the budget is very tight this month.
:grinheart Free entertainment. Do the Big Butterfly Count again. (Link)
:grinheart Free exercise will be race walking 4 km to a local beauty spot. I'm not running again til the discomfort from yesterday's dental work has subsided.
:grinheart Complete survey on bottom of Tesco receipt for 25 Clubcard points.
:grinheart Bed linen out on the line to dry.

Good Morning Everyone!
Been a very busy few days for me and I've not managed to post. Its also been very spendy but in a good way. Ive had extra pennies due to it working out as a 5 week pay for me.
Done some wallpapering at my nephew's new house whilst the little ones were at there Dad's. Also managed to give them £50 as a moving in gift (decided against the microwave, the type they wanted was out of my price range)
House is finally all tidied and should be much easier to keep on top. Still lots to declutter, where does it all come from? Brought some small items for storage and organising around the house.
Started dd2 birthday shopping. I was going to buy her a dolls house and then one appeared on the facebook selling pages for £20. Like new with all the accessories (still selling in shop for £100 without anything with it) Its much nicer than the one I originally wanted. Still want to pick her up a scuttle bug and play kitchen. Also ready priced up and should be able to get them after the weekend. Shes getting a fair bit this time has she only really has baby toys and shes suddenly jumped into a little girl.
I've entered the strange world of Facebook selling. People are strange but have managed to sell quite a bitNo one really seams to read any the details! Aiming at shifting at least one thing a day, one thing ready to go tonight so will work on something for tomorrow. May need to reduce one or two things to clear but don't mind that. Some things may need to still go on eBay but much easier this way.
Local charity shop which receives new goods has had a load of really nice girls furniture in. Have purchased a beautiful little girls dressing table and house shaped shelving unit. The prices aren't exactly cheap but compared in the shop they are, I would never of been able to afford them otherwise. They have my number if anything else comes in.
Not long to our holiday now. so need to sort out boarding passes, online check-in etc over the next few days. Also write a little list of things we require. Not much I don't think as plenty of clothes etc but things like sandals and sunscreen I think.
Need to start looking around for some Jeans as ive only got to pair and could ideally do with a few more. Should be able to fit into the budget after the holiday.

Just had a call from the lead interviewer from Monday as I asked for some additional feedback. Really positive :j said my interview was really good but the pool of candidates was really strong and who they thought they were going to offer the post to changed 3 times throughout the day and after my interview I was in the lead. Gave some good tips on where the person who was appointed gave more detailed responses, which is helpful. I then discussed possibly doing some volunteering for the service but as am looking for work can't say if I can commit to 6 months and he suggested I speak to HR about becoming a sesional (bank covering posts when there's a staff shortage) where I will get paid for shifts.
He also advised me there is a lot of money coming into Kent into community projects and encouraged me to keep applying and said he felt sure I would get a post when the new contracts are delivered
Nice to get such detailed & positive feedback :TDF as at 30/12/16

Morning all!
Thought I'd share a tip I read about using conditioner rather than shaving foam to shave your legs - I don't shave so not a clue if that would work!
Annoyed that I saw a voucher somewhere on FB this morning but I was on my phone - tried to look for it on computer and now can't find it! It was for 50p fabric softener - cant remember brand but the intense one?! FOUND IT - http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/coupons/money-off/1-pound-off-comfort-intense.pdf 64 wash on offer for £2.50 and £1 off - I think this is pretty good?
The revolving door to my house strikes again as I have my boss' 2 dogs staying until Saturday!
Today I have/will:-
* Check banks
* Do load of washing on 30 degree quick wash
* Hang washing on line before work
* Take lunch to work
* Find and print (at work of course!) recipe for mushroom soup I saw on TV the other night (uses rice rather than cream so kinder on the waist line!)
* Email places re baby shower for friend to get prices
* Go for a little walk at lunch
* Check paypal
* Earn more SBs
* Earn more on OnePoll
* Finish meal plan
* Write shopping list
* Dinner from stores
* Visit friend for a brew and natter
* Load washing machine to switch on tomorrow morning
Think that's everything for today! Hope you all have a good day and Bob I hope technology behaves for you!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £6,450.00

Morning moneysavers!
Lunch will be from from store drawer again today and I resisted M&S chocolate-coated raisins for elevenses which I was craving this morning in favour of eating tomorrows sweet treat a day early. I will have to replenish (or go without tomorrow!) but I will get a pack of four for half the price the M&S single pack would have cost me.
Dinner tonight will be curry made with Mr T's Finest tikka Masala sauce which is currently on offer and chicken left over from last night's roast dinner. There is less chicken that there should be on account of me catching the cat with her head in the bowl while I was washing up so I had to scrape off the top layer as I wasn't sure which bits had been nibbled. I will top up with a pack of mushrooms and plenty of onions.
My mum has offered to pay for the floor sanding this weekendI had an inkling she was about to offer so told her it was costing less than it really is so I will still need to pay £100 myself but she is happy to help. I will take her round some of my booty from yesterday to say thank you
Do you remember me rambling on about my favourite weekly astrology email? In light of all the dental work going on I thought I'd post what she said in last week's email...
However, note that Saturn is currently “stuck” at 28 degrees of Scorpio, getting ready to turn direct at the beginning of next month, and will stay on this degree until the beginning of September. So although good aspects to Saturn generally signify “getting it together” this is most certainly not the stuff of swift progress. Saturn is Lord of Time – and major issues now unfolding will have a “wait and see” factor as you take the first step, or will be on a timetable that can’t be changed or rushed. If you have planets or angles at 28 degrees of Scorpio – or in the other fixed signs of Taurus, Leo or Aquarius – then Saturn issues will be paramount in your life during this time. These include waiting games, dealing with authority, long term business or personal projects or bringing a matter to a definite conclusion. Health issues are in there too, especially those connected to dental work or osteopathy/physiotherapy.
