This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all,

Nice day here again although its been much cooler at nights and in the mornings. Off to work today and the boss is back after three weeks away so I can hand the reins back over to her, I have never been so pleased to see her in my life !

Spoke to 'little madam' yesterday who at first tried to deny that she was out drinking until I said that I had seen the photos and knew that she was having a party, she went away extremely shamefaced, I would honestly rather she were truthful and said she had a hangover !

Fish cake chips and peas for dinner tonight which is nice and quick, I need to clean the bathroom and out a wash on.

Have good day all xx

Flying visit from me today, once hubby has been fed & dropped at work I'm off to look after 4 of my DGC's, aged 10, 9 & the 14 month old twins, wish me luck.
I'm hoping for a nice day so I can take the twins out to the park.
    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning All

    Good luck HH!
csarina - At least they are being thorough, hope things are sorted soon.

Actually got washing dried outside yesterday and today is looking good so my bedding is in the machine. Have another load to go in after that.
DD will be back tonight so will have to hope for good weather tomorrow too.

The clear up operation after the plasterers yesterday wasn't as bad as usual so hopefully they have got passed the really messy bits. When all this is finished there is going to be a massive clean up, the cupboard under the stairs has a rather unhealthy covering of dust in it but I refuse to try to clean up until they have finished.

Not got anything planned today apart from shift at the hospice later, will go for a swim later too. The pensioners go at 9 and the pool is really busy, they seem to leave about 10 so I'll try then. They do have a habit of swimming slowly in a line having a good chat!

Hope everyone's feeling well, take care. XX
  • Morning one and all. Thanks for starting off RR. Miserable start here but forecast to improve.

As expected yesterday's shopping trip with DD and DGD was very tiring and we didn't get home until 8 pm!!!! We went on the train to Leeds and never got out of the Trinity all day! We seemed to visit almost every shop in there and even had lunch in there! Not where I would have chosen - TGI Friday - very flashy and very, very expensive. Though I have to admit the food was really nice. DGD got everything on her list and we came back loaden with bags. It's her 11th birthday in 2 weeks so she was given lots of early birthday money to spend too. She wanted a pair of Converse trainer boots off us - eeek how much!!

Well back to Leeds yet again today (and tomorrow) for Mr TA's scans. The Octreotide scans are very time consuming. Today he has his bloods done, then the injection of the radioactive stuff. Wait 4 hours (free to leave the hospital) and back for the first part of the scan. Then back again tomorrow morning for the second, and much longer, part of the scan. He last had one 18 months ago so we know what to expect. We need to be on the 9.30 train this morning and don't expect to be home until after 6.30 so a long day ahead.

Not given a thought to cooking as will probably have lunch in the 4 hour wait and whatever leaps out of the fridge when we get back. Lots of bits and pieces in there which could do with eating up.

Have a good day all. ((((((HUGS)))))) to those in need. Take care whatever you are up to xx

    Morning everyone.

Not sure what's happening with the weather. Yesterday turned out mostly sunny and windy so I got two loads of washing out and dried.

Today I have another two hour work session so back into town.

TA - my thoughts are really with you and OH for the next couple of days. They sound both tiring and worrying. Hope you have got some 'Scooby snacks' to keep your strength and spirits up.

I need to check my packing and my lists, just to make sure everything is ready.

Camelot - all the dust sounds awful. It's so difficult to close ones eyes to builder mess and leave it alone.

Right, into the garden for snail hunting. There are fewer being caught these days. I will also have to clear out all the areas where I have killed off the weeds. - the glyphosate has done its job well and now o have to do mine. That'll be my task for the afternoon.

I hope everyone has a great day.
  • TA I will be thinking of you both, the next 2 days are going to be very tiring and emotional.

    Take care

    Morning :hello:

Good luck TravellingAbuela, I hope all goes well xx

We've booked a holiday, Cornwall in october. Scampi is coming too – I'm nervous already :D

I'm forever finding coffee granules in the sugar jar, no-one listens when I tell them to stop doing it. So I stuck a post-it on the jar – No Coffee Allowed. It's been 24 hours and I haven't had to pick any stray coffee out of the sugar. I might stick more notes in various places around the house, hopefully they'll pay attention to those instructions too :D

We give eggs to our neighbours, they reward us with little tastes of Polish food and the occasional lesson in how to pronounce certain words. I still get them all wrong and can't remember what they mean, lol. Have just learned that herring in Polish is sledz, but I can't pronounce it correctly at all, they laugh at me :D They popped round last night and gave us some beer, I'll be sampling that later :D

I miss one day of vacuuming and the house looks like a bomb's hit it. Why is it, everything else can be clean and tidy but if there's bits on the floor the whole place looks like horrible mess?! :D I'll get it sorted first thing, I can't stand looking at it. I think I've found an answer to my shirts problem, it's on another thread and seems so simple, I'll be trying it out today.

WM is on, weather looks good for today and the weekend too. Off to the caravan either today or tomorrow for the weekend. Shall pop out later to pick up some bits of shopping. Other than that I have nothing exciting planned!

    Enjoy today everyone :)

    Hi all,

I got mixed up with yesterday's thread - it took me a while to think that the posts seemed familiar!

Csarina, it's very demoralising when you have to have something like that repeated, what with that and DH it seems you've drawn the short straw with medical care in the last few years.

TA, I hope today isn't too tiring after your marathon yesterday!

I'm still dying doilys in rainbow colours to make table runners. I have to ring the sewing machine shop because my machine seems to have developed a fault. it's less than a year old but I need to ring because we'll not be going up to Yorkshire until after it's a year old and we got it there.

Mum's house sale is going at a snail's pace. The buyers will be homeless tomorrow - they are planning to put a caravan on the land while they renovate but we've told them that they can't until the money is in our bank account (or rather the solicitor's).
