Would it be possible to create a new source of limitless renewable energy by

Highly inefficient in total energy terms but if your source energy is 'free' then could be the answer to the feast/famine issue of renewables
Some would say heating thousands of square miles of desert is more inefficient.

We could use the central reservation on motorways to install the world's longest solar array. Maybe even rig something up so cars connect to it like dodgems. Then design an app that connects dodgem owners with people willing to stand on the back to share the same journey and sell it for billions.
Ah, that reminds me of the episode of CHIPS where Jon and Ponch were called in to investigate a crash and found out it was caused by a large mirror being transported on a truck at the same time that the sun was in a particular position.
I remember this because I had a serious crush on Erik Estrada in my much younger days:o.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

It isn't renewable.
But on the other hand, if it is limitless then it doesn't need to be.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

No need for that if cat and toast are in a sphere, surely? Both are trying to make contact with a surface, thereby stopping the other from making contact.More importantly, it would doubtless win you the Nobel prize by resolving the Shrodinger cat problem. We would know the cat's alive if it kept spinning, and dead if it isn't.
Good point - do you think the RSPCA would try and scupper my application, though?0 -

Wouldn't it be ironic if it was infact our attempts to harness tidal and wind energy that were causing climate change
No. You can't get energy from anywhere for nothing, all you ever do is convert energy from one form to another. If you extract some energy from the tides to generate electricity it just means that it's heating your home instead of the sea.
If you could find some way to prevent losing energy to the tides (by freezing the sea solid?) the earth won't speed up, it will just slow down more slowly. You'd have to put energy into the system to speed up the rotation of the earth.0 -
