Mail delivered to old address

I ordered a DVD from Ebay and it was delivered to my old address as I stupidly didn't change my address on Paypal and the I did almost the exact same thing a few days later on Amazon. There's now two packages I haven't received.


The previous landlords aren't in town very often so aren't in the old flat very often, haven't been there since packages would have been delivered. Usually packages that don't fit through the door are left in the cupboard right next to the front door (we live in a close, like a small group of flats). There was nothing in the closet so I assume the postie, but a red card through the door. Looking through the letterbox I see no sign of the packages. My question is, can I collect the goods from the local delivery office without the red cards?

No, you will not be able to, according to the Royal Mail website.

Well heres the irony. You know when people hump and grump about being asked for ID,needing the card etc?
If you take ID and proof of address you will likely get your item.

I've always been told no card, no item. If you go and ask they will attempt to redeliver (and so leave another card for you to take back to the post office) but they wont hand over an item without a card and if they do so they're breaking the rules.


It could be that items were sent recorded delivery in which case they'd need to be signed for, this could be why they were not left hidden in a place they usually are.


You could try Royal Mails re-direction service. You sign up for a few weeks after moving and anything with your name sent to that address can be redirected to your new address.
