Advising DVLA of recent Illness

I recently spent 3.5 months in hospital with infection in my brain, spine and lungs. The infection in my brain led to abbesses, swelling and ventriculitis. At my worst point I had a seizure which I now am on anti seizure tablets for and will be until at least April.
I understand that due to the seizure and medication I can't drive now. Is this something I have to tell DVLA or can I just not drive until the right time. I've from a lot of people the long time it can take to get your license back.
The seizure was due to the high swelling on my brain which has now gone but am on the medication due to the scar tissue which could cause a seizure.

Sorry to hear of your issues, I hope your recovery is smooth. I have a friend with a brain tumour who is not able to drive now. See attached link, it looks like you need to inform them rather than just not drive.
