Confused

Hello all
I am about to embark on a mortgage application but slightly confused. My advisor a couple of weeks ago, said I had a decision in principle for 85%ltv, and needed a 15% deposit via Halifax (they deal with action 106 discounted house scheme). I asked for this to be confirmed in writing, which I have. Now I have my appointment to make the application in full...or so I thought.
I'm now being told the meeting will be a more in depth credit search for a DIp, and if successful , a full application following. I said that I already had the DIP, but was then told it was only a 'soft' search and an 'AIP', but I thought they were one of the same!??
Anybody know of the Halifax process please?

Thanks
