Great tips. thank you. Yes i am going to have a look at pet shop tomorrow. A friend recomended serene-um drops. I will check with the vet as to what herbal treatments would be ok. She likes cardboard boxes, newsapaper and paper bags. So i will save lots of these things. I like the idea of leaving the window with a gap. She will like to look out of the window. I intend to only enter the room when my son is at school or in bed so that if she does escape he will not be around. If i buy lots of treats and coax her back to the room.

same problem here. My solution has worked well. Get a " fat boy "scraching post and put a coir mat by the door, cats love them. I use a ct repleent on the furniture, (doesn't harm it but try a hidden place first )And i use a catmint spray on the scracthers. It's an ongoing job but 3 monthes down the line miy furniture is perfect.

    World's Best Cat Litter.

It is excellent. I am allergic to the standard clay type litter. I am not allergic to this. My cats are happy with it. It clumps very well. It does not smell with urine clumps, and poo clumps hold together very well. You just need a scooper to lift out the clumps, so very little wastage. It looks expensive, but you only need to take out the clumps rather than changing the whole tray.
It says it flushes. I have not tried to flush it. I swear by this after having tried a dozen other types. I recommend this to cat owners whose cats reject the litter tray: this stuff does not irritate their paws, bottoms, and zero dust so no irritating their noses.

    Absolutely recommended.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Can I also add, because I have a boy aged 4. It is very important to keep him away from her. Otherwise I could let her move a bit more around the house. I can't take any risks. Thinking of putting a bolt on the room she will be staying in as I keep some of his bigger toys in there and don't want him exploring by accident

Given all the issues you are likely to encounter if you have her in isolation at home for 3 weeks, is it feasible (albeit unwelcome, not least financially if your pet insurance won't cover it) to simply keep her at the pet hospital for the full 5 weeks? Might be a lot fairer to the cat and a lot less strain on your nerves!

It's costing over £2000 as we speak and it's about £40 a day in the hospital. I have some insurance cover but not full amount.

Had a good read about this litter and it looks exactly what I need. Just wondered if it comes in smaller quantities as I only need enough for 3 weeks.

Amazon, WaitrosePet and VioVet have the 3kg bags.
Just type in the brand and 3kg to see what's local to you.

Good luck with the mog. My two detest being in for a few hours, let alone weeks!

Do you know anyone with goldfish who would be willing to lend you their tank for the month? I know of a few catteries that have big fish tanks; the cats love watching the fish going round and round.

I have a friend who has a gold fish but it's not a big tank and she can climb onto the window sill so it wouldn't be safe. It sounds a good distraction tho, I will think about that. I used to have an app on the iPad which was like a fish tank. If I could secure it to the wall and leave it running all day that could work. Great idea. ThanKs

Got some valerian based drops for calming her down from pets at home. So see how that goes.
