contacting all debts on credit report tonight, time to get my debt sorted

i used this bored a lot a few years back and cleared thousands of pounds worth of debt, then got side tracked and never did come back and of course the debt has been mounting up ever since so today's the day no more excuses
Have spent the last few hours setting up noddle and also getting my equifax credit report online, i used my free trial with experian before so will leave that one for now. Ive started contacting every debt on them to inquire what the debt is actually for (there is alot im afraid and ashamed to admit most of them bar a few are all defaulted) and if they still own the debt.
my plan is for the time being to set up a standing order for all the debts and pay £1 per week each to them all, I will pick one debt at a time and pay every spare penny i have towards it until its clear then just keep moving through the list.
Does anybody know if settling a debt looks alot worse than clearing a debt? for example if the debt was £120 and i offered them £100 to clear it i know the debt then goes to settled instead of up to date.
im looking forward to joining in on some of your challenges and getting this mess ive got myself into sorted
