What one company thinks of there winners.

I won a prize and was asked to send my details in so i did, Like most companies they send your details on to get your prize sent out but they copied me in the email there are 5 of us that are winners and this is the reply.
Just remember... There are 5 of the critters...only 4 more to go!

I was of course offended that they referred to me as a "Critter" so i fired a email back at this point i did not care about the prize. They sent this reply.

I have spoken to the sender of this email who has informed us that it was meant endearingly. However, we apologise for the inappropriate language and if this has caused you any offense.
If you have any more questions please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are happy to help.
Many thanks and best regards,
I got my prize today after a long wait, I thought they might have just "lost" my email. But have you ever been copied into a email and insulted because you won something with a company? I have decided to keep the name of the company etc from the post as i have the prize now but wanted your opinions etc?

Well it would not offend me to be called a critter I don't think it is an insult at all and would just be pleased I had won a prize

Sounds to me like they were talking about the prize. You are being over sensitive and I would have laughed had I recieved your email.
    Thank you all who post.

Everyone is different, but I would've heard the comment as said with 'affection', and would've laughed. I've laughed at being called much worse than that. Apart from anything, we are all critters really. I tend to think about how something is said, more than the words used. So if I think it's meant kindly, that's how I try to take it.

I did once win a prize from a magazine, and it took ages of prompting and prodding before I got it.

Exactly the same happened to me some years ago when an upmarket newspaper didn't believe me when I told them I had won their prize!
I ggogled my name and this win came up - I wrote an email - they tried to brush me off saying the prize had been awarded end of - I tried again and they backed down and awarded my prize - a weekend in London.

Fate did intervene - a train strike meant we couldn't go!

OMG! Did you pull them up on it? I'd have been pretty annoyed about that!

Of the critter email though, I wouldn't mind so much that at all. Critters have always meant cute little creatures so I'd take it to mean something nice or endearingly amusing.

Mmm yes I did, I forwarded it to a couple of high ups in the company (v. big international company) and asked if they felt it was appropriate language in the circumstance.

    They thought not.

If i was offended by being called a critter i would lock myself in a darkened room with no access to the outside world
