Has anyone got any of these from the betterware catalouge?
I'm thinking of buying at least the potato and bread bags but dont want to buy them if they are how my DS would put it "pants" and would of been better off what I do in the first place keep me spuds in the bag open under the stairs (I keep meaning to buy some sort of basket for them) and my bread in a carrier bag LOL.
Please let me know what you think,
TIA

My mum bought me the potato bag from betterware ( she always buys me little useless bits from betterware like a microwave ice cream scoop being among the worst!
) and I personally wouldn't bother.
I used to just put the potatos in a drawer in the kitchen still in the bag I bought them in, and they were fine. Now they are stored in the potato bag they seem to grow LOADS of roots compared to how I used to store them.
Don't know about the bread bag though0 -
Dug up our potatoes a few weeks ago and put them in a couple of old pillow cases in a dark cupboard. The are still firm and no sprouting (and they still taste lush )
So long as it is dark and dry, they should last
HTH
edit : Got the betterware bags - carp IMO:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
Someone on here said you can make potato bags out of that black out curtain fabric. As I was cleaning out my shed the other day I happened on a largeish piece of said material. Talk about excitement or what??? Very sad.
At some point I will sit down and make this bag up and see if it works.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I keep my potatoes in an old cotton pillowcase in a dark cupboard.
Works well and is cheaper!0 -
I had a veg bag once, I put runner beans in it which we had just picked from the allotment. Then went away on holiday for a week. The veg and the bag had gone mouldy during the week :rotfl:
I've had real trouble too keeping spuds for more than a few days without them sprouting. I now keep ours in a "bag-for-life" in the entry, and they are fine.
If you've got somewhere dry, cool and dark then thats the best place.
I reckon these bags are pretty looking but are just cotton bags really with dark material inside. Just like two old pillow cases0 -
I use the special green plastic bags from Lakeland to keep my fruit and veg, including potatoes, in the fridge - they are dear to buy but you can wash and reuse them lots of times and I find them really good.
I also have the Lakeland bread bag, but I don't find that particularly good and it's hard to keep clean.0 -
Kleeneze do them aswell, I'm going to PM jovichick on here as she does Kleeneze and I want another. I bought the potato one and was doubtful but works VERY well for me, I've never had potatoes last so long!
My sewing skills are non existant and I don't have any 'old' pillow cases. One day I might be more organised...........
