I think times are tougher now. There are lots of people out there earning decent money wo dont have degrees but many of them started years ago as craft apprentices and worked their way up. Experience is worth a lot. These days many companies including major blue chips have their degree blinkers on and are not interested in growing people from the ground up. Without a degree you are often seen and treated as a rubbing rag and so my recommendation is to go get that degree.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • As for me I have no idea whether I can find a job or not without a degree, after all we can not travel back to past. But I have to admitted that a degree is by no means an essential qualification for a decent job. Nowadays degrees have become less and less important since almost everyone can get a diploma through studying courses and ability has gradually become the core for employers in job interviews. If u have outstanding ability or r specialized in some fields, you can be a winner.

I'm an engineering manager, started with a HNC and built up some experience through low paid or summer placements. University was worthwhile especially in engineering. Ended up paying student loan off in 5 years of employment and earning potential is massive now.

Go to uni, its the best investment you will make.

My husband hasn't got a degree, hell he hasn't even been to college to get A levels or equivalent but he applied for an apprenticeship and was one of 2 people picked out of 30+ (of which most had a degree) for the apprenticeship.

He's been with the company for almost 5 years, he has been trained to degree equivalent, is now in a senior role, doesn't have any study debts, works 4 days a week (every weekend off) and has almost tripled his starting salary; he isn't even near the top of his grade either.

So yes, you can get a decent job without a degree.

I don't see the big deal with degrees, just because you can work well in an educational environment doesn't mean that you can transfer those skills to the real world; especially "Mickey Mouse degrees". I've seen plenty of people finish Uni and then struggle with a proper job in the field they studied so have gone back to working in shops or fast food restaurants.
