It would help if you told us what job you are thinking of doing and how this relates to your experience to date.

My daughter works P/T at Next. It appears to be minimum wage. The person above her is only 70p/hr better off.

  • i work at morrisons on the checkout/sales assist. we get £5.50

I hear the morrisons is the worst paying supermarket but not 100% sure
we get 13.5% discount on home and leisure stuff only but this is suposed to be changed to everything than wines and spirits in novemember. Also get profit share in april... there is speculation that this may disapear with this bigger discount.

I think you need to look at extra bonuses and discounts and these maybe of better use than a few pence increase.

next used to be a good company to work for ,but after the nation wide restrusure, store's the have lost good staff ,they forced staff into new contracts , so as to free up hours for more partimers to be taken on .many young mum's had to resign 'they seem to have forgotten they have a family flexile policy , but it mean's nothing ,the rate of pay dose not reflect the hard work .if you work more than four hours you will need to start 15 min berore your shift starts you don't get any paid breaks . you will also have to work xmas eve till late at night untill the shop is ready for sale day ,a full time staff will be paid for 37.5 hours but the hours they are in work are 46 .they are verry strict on use of staff discount ,i'v know of many staff sacked for it,s misuse .part of our job will be to flog the directory book and it has been said that it will be placed on your personal file if you dont get any .the manager's get a large chunk of the rewards ,that given for the directory .as it is taking more money than the shops are .you may recive a little somthing but you will need collect many customer.s info .
