How often are mortgages declined after valuation?

Hi there
My mortgage application with Nat West has just gone on to valuation and we have just paid the valuation fee. We are buying a Help To Buy new build with a 5% deposit. Does this mean that we have passed all the credit checks and the bank just needs to find value in the house? What are the chances of the mortgage being declined at this stage?
Thanks in advance!

I think it depends on the lender. We have gone with Natwest too, and I was told that Natwest do all their major checks before valuation, so assuming valuation is OK, that's pretty much it with them. It does still go to an underwriter before being issued after valuation though, so I guess there is still a chance.
Hopefully someone will know more detail.0 -
