Just discovered Allen and Overy have a law firm in Belfast. Does anyone know if this is a backup to their main operations or do solicitors operate from here?

It's their main IT office and there is some financial stuff done there. Don't think there's much in the way of solicitors there though.0

Good company to have in NI though even if it is more a support role.
What sort of legal work do A+O engage in? I presume it's not the normal private clients that cover house purchases etc.0 -

IT and back office functions - i heard though they were expanding that to include legal staff as it had went so well..
They already have "legal staff" in their service centre, I know there are a few professionals but I'm not sure how many and if they actually practise in this jurisdiction. I think probably not.

Hi
As others have said, it's a service centre for the other A&O offices throughout the world. None of the legal professionals practice law in Northern Ireland. They've been here four years now."I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together." Cool.
Good to see, i went for an interview with them a couple of years ago and i'd been doing my homework on them then. Seemed like a good setup.0 -

I know a few IT guys that work there. Bit of travel to London but seems a grand enough place to work. If you want to use your law degree but don't want to practice it's a good option. Near sourcing worries me a bit from a job longevity point of view but who expects to work in the same job for 40 years now anyway.0 -
Good company to work for then?0
