    See -

I asked for confirmation of our phone call in writing via e-mail and they didn't even do that properly!

All they've said is I'm being held liable for the property but no explanation how or why...

And my dispute is classed as a Third Party Dispute between yourself & your Ex-Partner. - I never stated that! I provided the proof of Electoral role they asked for originally. Along with copies of *her* dated bills from other providers (What i could find) she lived there.

So now the debt collector has raised a complaint with the utility provider and they will call me in 7 days. I'm sick of phone calls. I want everything in writing! How is this so hard for them to understand?!

Refuse to speak to them on the phone. Just keep repeating that you need everything to be in writing so that you have evidence of what is being said.

Also put in a formal complaint by email to them about their failures to deal with this matter properly. State that unless you get proper answers to your questions and they give you a good explanation for why they have ignored your request to deal with this matter in writing you will complain to FOS about their conduct.

Also add that you expect them to have properly checked with your supplier that the supposed debt actually existed before demanding payment from you.

In other words make clear your complaint is with them not your supplier.

Weren't MY supplier was my ex's :p haha! Sorry :-)

I can't believe for a second they didn't have the evidence ready before even going down the route of the debt collector. And they feel the need to do all the chasing now. This shows you what a joke the industry is.

I've e-mailed back saying I won't be accepting any more phone calls. I want it all in writing. Also saying someone visited me (which is impossible) is a lie. Also mentioned if this continues without proof I'll complain to the FCA.

Also asked again for the 3rd time how they got my current address. Lets get that one closed.

All sounds like scare tactics to me. unfortunate for them I've been to small claims court twice (both as claimant and defence) and won both. So I know what happens if it goes that far :-)

Ok - got my current address from Experian.

Yet when I contacted Experian and checked my report - there's no other addresses listed on it under the "other addresses" section.

What the hell are they going on about! I even sent them a copy of the report!

Got one interesting statement in writing now! :-)

"Your Experian Credit report is not the reason you are being held liable for this matter as we do not accept any information from Experian as evidence of liability, The only reason we applied an Experian trace was to locate your current address."

Scottish Power tried a similar stunt with me a few years ago. Turns out they used the services of a tracing agency who forged the final bill and was demanding £3k off me, made up of outstanding amount plus charges/interest etc.

I sent a SAR to SP for £10 and found out what they'd been up to, wrote to SP and the DCA telling them they had 7 days to cease collection activity on me or I'd be taking it further, and I never heard from them again.

...Address checks don't affect "credit worthiness" -every time I look for car or home insurance quotes, these sorts of checks show up on my Experian report -however, when I queried with Experian ,I was assured that these don't show to anyone other than me.:)

@taconite2 apologies if this has been asked before, but have you approached the landlord of the property to see whether they have a copy of a tenancy agreement with your name on??

It's a good point but I don't have this to hand. I wasn't the one who rented the property.

I rang SSE last night asking for a subject access request, seems they don't even know how my name ended up on their system.

Sent a cracking e-mail to them last night....

    "LCS,

I quote "LCS have requested more information from our client to establish how your information was added to this matter."

Wouldn't it have been wiser to establish all these facts before sending me threatening/bullying letters requesting repayment? This is your failure to deal with this matter properly. Most companies establish some sort of proof before accusing someone of something.

It amazes me how you're quick to post out standard template letters with what seems are totally random made up figures of payment (£770.20) with no proof/breakdown where this actually came from or anything to back up why you think its me who owes this. I don't owe LCS or SSE anything. Prior to your initial letter I wasn't even aware I was on SSE's records as I've never used them for electricity supply ever. For this reason I will be asking SSE for a subject access request in line with the Data Protection Act 1998 to find what other information this company is holding about me.

You are aware it's illegal to demand cash from anyone on false grounds?

As for the statement "as it was not our company who added your name" - at the end of the day the threatening payment letter came from LCS. Not SSE. So I'm holding you responsible for this.

I await your "findings" from your client SSE. However given their earlier false statement they visited me and I supposedly produced them with a tenancy agreement on the 7th March 2014 (according to what was said on the phone - which is a lie) - I want contact from them in writing either via e-mail or post as to assist with evidence should this go to a small claims court. I am not accepting any more phone calls and would prefer if you take my phone number off your system."

They replied saying they've taken my phone number off, and they are awaiting a response from SSE....
