Hair strand test - how long

My daughter is booked in for highlights (half head) for the first time and I asked about a strand test when I phoned to book
They said they can do it on the day and also do a skin test for future reference if she wanted her hair coloured* in the future
*I can't remember the specific term the hairdresser mentioned but I think it she said coloured or dyed
My question is how long does it take for a strand test as I assumed it was done the day before and they seem to be doing it on the day.
Thanks

It's supposed to be left in total for 48 hours to see if any mild reactions occur but they can take a small risk and apply it to her skin and if a bad reaction occurs it'll be noticed straight away and then they'll just wash it off and try a different dye until they find one that does not react on her skin....if they can't find anything they'll just cancel the appointment usually at no charge.
She may still have a mild reaction to the dye if they put it on her hair after having waited a few hours with no reaction, she then needs to always mention what happened in the future. The reaction may get worse after each time so no point just saying last time it was fine when it really wasn't. My OH had reactions and every time she dyed her hair it just got worse and worse to the point she now can't use anything.:footie:
