in Cutting tax
Hi
My husband is a self employed private hire taxi driver.
Last year he purchased a second hand diesel car for the cost of £9000.
I am doing the self assessment tax return.
Can I take out the full cost of the car as an expense as he needs this to do his job?
Or can I only deduct the capital allowance at 8% as it is a diesel car at £720 (£9000 x 8%)?
Another 8% taken off next year from £8280 and so on?
thanks in advance for your help

You have just about got it - unless the Co2 emission for the car is less than 130 in which case the annual allowance is 18%There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who do not. :doh:0 -
100% allowance is only available for black/hackney cabs. If it's a "normal" car, then you're right, 8% per year.0
