How long does an appeal usually take?

Hello
We've had our DIP from Halifax for £127,950 and have a £10,000 so when our offer of £129,000 was accepted on the house we really like we were over the moon.
We met with our mortgage adviser to discuss putting in our mortgage application. She went away and said that she would put the application in late Monday night as she is going on holiday on Wednesday.
When I spoke to her on Tuesday, she said that when she put the application it came back with an instant decline. When she spoke to a BDM at Halifax on the Tuesday morning they said that their system will give an instant decline for applications done so late at night? So she has now sent an Appeal letter to Halifax and it has gone to the underwriter.
Does anyone have an idea how long the appeal process can take? Our mortgage broker disclosed everything with a BDM at Halifax about a default my husband had and settled 3 years ago for £1,000 prior to DIP so a bit concerned why they would decline after they were ok with everything at the start :-(
Such bad timing for this to happen when our mortgage broker is now on holiday.
Thanks

Does your mortgage broker work alone? Does she not have a colleague you can refer to?
At the risk of worrying you she does not sound very experienced.
Given your deposit size and that default you should be working on 'plan B' now.I am a Mortgage Broker
