A4e (now PeoplePlus) suddenly want bank statement?

Hi,
I'm with A4e/WorkProgramme (now PeoplePlus?), I got an email today requesting all my "right to work documents" however they are demanding my bank statement too. Does anyone know why they'd need this? I've never been asked for it before and I'm not sure if I'm allowed to decline showing it. I really dislike how intrusive they get and would rather not give them documents I don't have to.
Thanks.

You can decline to provide any document, but DWP/A4e can then decline to make payment to you. I understand that you may feel the request is intrusive but they do have the right to request any documentation they feel may be relevant.0

PeoplePlus, as a WP provider, do not have a right to see your bank statement. Contrary to the comment above, they are not the people paying your benefit. The DWP can demand it.0

Ask them to show you where they are authorised to see bank statements rather than any other form of address ID. Of course they can ask for bank statements - demonstrated by the fact that they have - but that doesn't mean you are obliged to provide this personal data.
Ask them if you personally can photocopy a bank statement (using their equipment) whilst obliterating figures in the amounts of money columns. That way they get to have confirmation of your address and bank account number and sort code but don't see your finances. (I mean you would cover up the money columns before photocopying - as photocopiers may retain images which can be re-printed.)
By the way, do they accept pdf files downloaded from the internet or are they requesting copies of documents delivered to your home?0 -
afaik, work programmes AT MOST would only need proof of your ID , and maybe NI No- and only when you started with them.
Have you asked why they 'need' this info?
Your finances are none of their business.breathe in, breathe out- You're alive! Everything else is a bonus, right? RIGHT??0 -

They are not allowed to ask for this particular document unless you are wanting to go self employed and are asking for help with finding your new business venture etc
Point blank refuse and offer to show your passport/birth certificate etc as proof of right to work documentation instead or a letter from Jcp/DWP as proof of address - do not be bullied into giving them extra as they so often fool people into doing!
That whole talk about being on the wp for two years is correct but if you get sick of calls from them simply state you wish to receive letters instead once every three months and they have to comply with your request. Be firm!0 -
Are you just starting with them or something?0
