Capquest - Where can I go next?

I'm hoping that someone can help with some difficulties that my wife is having with an old favourite of this board, Capquest. A few months ago she received a letter from them explaining that they had purchased a debt from Sky Card of around £2,000 and that she was to pay the remainder.
Having never applied for, received any bills for or received any notification from Sky Card themselves that we owed this money we were absolutely certain that this debt was nothing to do with us and that either a mistake had been made or she was a victim of identity theft.
The letter was followed by a phone call from one of their reps who I had great pleasure in shouting at. We told the police who told us that their phone calls potentially construed harrassment but as the crime was not committed against my wife, no crime could be registered (i.e. a fraud would have to be reported by Sky themselves).
We then wrote a detailed letter back to Capquest, copied to Sky Card and to James Murdoch (Chief Exec at BSkyB), setting out the reasons why this debt was not hers. One interesting fact about the account was that the balance was run up to £4,000 and at some point £2,000 was paid off it. One of the points made in the letter referred to that fact and that they might wish to trace the account where that payment came from. We have checked 3 credit rating agencies - none has a record of my wife having made an application for this card (so I suppose in one respect it can't ever affect her credit history).
We have since paid to sign up for the CPP Identity Protection product and they are now dealing with any correspondence though if it ends up in court we will be liable for any costs. We have been told that the account is on hold pending receipt from Sky Card of the original card application which will presumably show a signature different to that of my wife (we also sent copies of driving licence and passport to Capquest as they requested).
Tonight my wife received a phone call from 01252576300. The caller said that they were calling regarding a telegram and wanted to confirm her address. They said that they had 2 addresses, one where we live and one in Birmingham (potentially that of the fraudster). A subsequent Google of the telephone number pointed me to this site and, unsurprisingly, to Capquest (in a separate thread).
We have had enough of this. We've been co-operative with Capquest yet they will simply not get the message that we will never pay this money and seem to ignore the substantial evidence that this money is not owed by us. I'm minded to spend money to sue them just to make this point - does anyone have a similar experience and any suggestions as to where we might go next.

hi there, i would definately get onto the cab about this, it sounds like identity theft, and it needs sorting. Or you could get your free half hour with a solicitor just to see where you stand. Hope this helps

Hi wise-owl - I see that yet another victim of Crapquest has found us - I'll earmark this thread and reply in the morning - cheers.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
