  • when hubby first diagnosed terminal last year bank accounts and saving accounts were made to joint names and we both made wills. i will attempt to pay more off all cards as now i can start working full time again.
  • as regards to the boiler £3792.55 over 84 months repayments = £78.65 APR variable 19.8% no deposit interest +acceptance fee £2889.05 at AR of interest(variable)17.52%.
i was at work when he agreed to this on the agreement it says that he is the home owner and had no dependants when in fact i am the owner and we have 2 kids only found this out while sorting through his papers.
  • You need to get this boiler sorted out. That is outrageous!!!
Your husband was definately mis-sold. If he was not the house owner, then the agreement was not legal.

Make sure you make lots of waves about 'BRITISH GAS'. Try 'Watchdog' or 'Rogue Traders'. British Gas and the salesman definately needs exposing.

Please go the Citizens Advice Bureau about this, it's definately wrong.
I'm no expert in this field, only make the necessary payments until this matter is cleared up.
Do you have any friends that can help you ?
I wish you all the best.

    Hi Di,

I'd like to add my condolences and recommend that you post about the Tax Credits on the Benefits board as some of the posters there are benefits advisors in their working lives and can give very specific advice on how to deal with the overpayment.

Hi dd - First of al, I would like to add my condolences on the loss of your husband.

I see that you have made an appointment to see the Citizen's Advice Bureau next week. I would strongly suggest that you make the purpose of this visit 'all embracing' rather than just the 'Boiler Loan'.
CAB will be able to give you broad advice on all aspects of your late husband's 'debts' and may reccomend the setting up of a DMP or even making Full and Final Settlement offers, out of the insurance money, against these 'debts'.
It could also transpire that some of his 'debts' had built in insurance cover, or even that some of the debts will be no longer due.
Either way, it is important that you take Professional Advice before prioritising the debts. You may even need to speak with a solicitor, for legal advice, but CAB will be able to say if this is necessary, and can, possibly, reccomend a solicitor who will give a free initial consultation.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
