Yes you are, but in this case you are deliberately changing your income to manipulate the system.

This is MSE where looking for loopholes and beating the system is encouraged and always celebrated.

And whilst a minority engage then it's great for those who partake.
If everyone did it then many of us would be negatively affected.

For example MSE's can get great deals on car insurance becuase the apathetic 85% stick with their old insurer.
If everyone became MSE then prices would have to go and loopholes closed down.

i think everyone should get given at least 50k a year tax free from the Govt to spend as they like and get a free house to live in. People should also be free to have as many kids as they like and get £3k extra for each one. If the 4 bed semi becomes too small, then these people should just be given a 5 bed detached. But not just any 5 bed detached. One overlooking a park in Zone 1 of London.

This should be available to all people except the SCUM who have the cheek to go out every day working!!! These "workers" make me sick. Sometimes they even commute hundreds of miles just to "work" in a job to pay council tax and the like. Sickening people. Sickening greedy workers out to get money in exchange for doing something. How dare they!!!! The govt should make it as difficult as possible for these cretins by forcibly taking this hard earned money out of the bank accounts and giving it to the work shy layabouts.

I for one definitely think it is fair and reasonable that I commute in from outside Zone 6, paying a fortune for it, standing for hours in the hot and cold, so that a non-worker can live in a Zone 1 house they don't need and could never afford to live in, in a million years if they had to, hahahaha, pay for it.

Damn these pesky workers. Getting in the way of the freeloading community.

I love paying council tax to have the rubbish collected. But I see the fairness of a family of 6 creating loads more rubbish than me, paying zero council tax and getting it all free. That's why I work afterall. Not to support me and my family, but to give money to layabouts.

More pension contributions hopefully mean a better pension but I guess that also means less liekly to claim means tested benefits in retirement and more likely to pay more tax in retirement.

Of course your house isn't the only asset that is disregarded when claiming benefits including UC, penson contributions are as well, somethign to think about perhaps if decidign whether to save in a pension or an isa.

As far as loop holes go it requires you to be disciplined in terms of living off much less than your income now which probably counts out a large proportion of the population who spend according to what they earn rather than what they need.

Personally I think what your doing is brilliant!

I regularly get chastised at work by mates for my MSEness. Up to them if that want to waste all their money or get little value from it...

    Cheers

I think we should have a MSE party to celebrate people who want to spend more for the same stuff, pay more tax and arrange their affairs to reduce the benefits they receive.

My broadband and home insurance expired recently. I got a years line rental and broadband for £106 with Plusnet vs more than double that with Talktalk (and my son gets 75p month off his bill for recommending me). Home insurance managed to shave about £10 off and got £50 cashback via quidco. c£170 for less than 15 minutes effort.

I rejoice in other people's apathy.

When you pay tax or claim benefits you're required to follow the rules not seek the approval of public opinion.

    That is true.

If loopholes exist in the Tax and Benefit system it is Government who are at fault, not those to utilise them legally.

I arrange my Tax affairs to pay as little as legally possible, and morals play no part in the decision making as what I do is completely legal.
