Tracing old qualifications

Hello All

Apologies if this is in the wrong place- please feel free to move it if need be.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to trace old qualifications? I'm trying to help someone track down proof of a veterinary nurse qualification from 20 years ago, the college where the qualification was taken is no longer in operation and the certificate he had as long been lost.

Is there a data base or something which documents these sorts of things? he has contacted the Royal Veterinary College and is waiting to see if they able to trace it- is there any other avenues we should be exploring?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thank you.

If it was like an NVQ type thing, contact the awarding body-- so like Edexcel

Surely veterinary nursing is a regulated profession so presumably the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons will have details?

That is not the same as the Royal Veterinary College which is just one of the five (or seven??) vet teaching establishments in the UK.

There is no central database of things like this- it is down to the awarding body to keep track unless it is a profession that is registered like doctors, nurses etc where there would be additional records held by the professional body. So it depends who awarded the qualification. If it was the actual college that is now defunct the only hope is if in fact they merged with someone else who might have records knocking around in their cellar or something. If it was Edexcel or similar then they would have the records. Can the person with the qual not remember who awarded it?

Veterinary nurses ARE registered by the RCVS - see here......

Thank you all for your replies

He is waiting for a response from the Royal Veterinary College however the qualification he received was replaced after he left the profession- the person he spoke to kept asking him if he re-done it!! Not sure if they even understood his request!

We will wait for the response from the college.
    Thanks again

Sorry thought I'd just add- he is no longer registered as a vet nurse- to try and access those records he would need his registration number unfortunately after all these years he cannot remember it!

When I a recent training course, the admin had access to a database that listed everything I had done, going back some years.. Now wish I made a note of what it was called..

maybe making a SAR to education department might work?
