They sent you a letter that was deliberately misleading, so I'd say you can report them for that.

Even though you're feeling down at the mo, remember that you ARE trying your best, you ARE a good person, and you DON'T spend your day talking to people like they are dirt on your shoe. You're doing everything right, so remember that and keep your chin up,

I wouldnt let them get away with it. They are your creditor not your Judge!

As already posted this letter seems to be totally misleading and I am sure trading standards would be interested i the tactics that they are using to lull people to call them. As for the attitude of the women that you spoke to I wouldnt have let her get away with it.

I had a similair situation happen to me although they never wrote offering money just had a letter saying please can I contact them on a urgent matter. To cut a long story short it was the a Halifax collections dept chasing me up for the arrears. I told them that I was dealing with the CCCS and they she got nasty with me and told me that looking at my account and what I had spent the money on why should they be lenient on me and she suggested that I was morally corrupt! I had spent a lot of money on a online gambling addiction what I am now recoveirng from although she has no right to judge me. If I had spent the same money on shoes and shirts would I still be morally corrupt?

At this point I lost my temper and asked her name and she hung up on me. Well I dont have to take that so called them back spoke to the call centre manager who apologised profulsey about the conduct and since that complaint I havent had anymore phone calls (touch wood!!)

This was last year and I was very close to a breakdown and was seeing my doctor in regards to depression. I know realise that its only money and they have no right at all to make you feel like scum. There are regulatory bodies like the FSA and OFT there for a reason and I suggest you write a letter of complaint to Barclays expressing your annoyance at the tactics used. Also include that if they rty this again you will be reporting them to the regulatory bodies.

I wish you the best and them them you down ;)

Hi Emmamaw, I hope you feel better this morning. Have you managed to speak to payplan to talk this through with them?

I sympathise that you were upset how you were spoken to - no-one needs to be rude but to answer the rationale behind what happened...

We are with the cccs and my understanding is you should not pay a bit extra here and there as these leads creditors to believe that you were not honest in your initial budget (they don't assume that you have perhaps been thrifty and saved some money, or had a gift/bonus - that is why you are not allowed to include bonus payments in your salary as they are not constant). General feedback back I've seen on the forum suggests you save up what you have for when you may be offered a final settlement. BUT.....
All your negotiation should be with CCCS or Payplan as yes, this creditor can decline your plan because they suspect you have more money than you are saying.

I know one term of CCCS's agreement is that you do not pay any creditors direct.

Perhaps Payplan could advise how to make best use of a 'windfall' or extra money as it should be split equally between your creditors?

BTW, none if this excuses the person's attitude. The letter you received would not have had anything to do with your plan - if you were just behind in payments and could pay some extra, there would be no problem, it is your agreement with Payplan that makes the difference.

Good luck if you decide to take them on about it

    Thanks again guys,
The spare money was abtually my birthday money, I asked everyone for money for some new clothes, as I'm trying not to waste my own money, that's all going on my debts, I fot just over £100, so when I got this letter offering an extra £25 off my debt, I thought I was being really good in putting it off my debts, but after the way she spoke to me, she was so gloating, she made out like they should be my priority over all my other depts, but could offer me no reason why? I think I was more annoyed with myself for being tricked, and then alowing myself to be spoken to like that, but the support I've had from you guys has really cheered me up, thank you so much.
