HSBC - Mortgage/Home Owner Loan Confusion!

Hello all - I'm in the process of remortgaging from HSBC and looking around for the best rates etc.
When i initially got my current mortgage from HSBC I got some additional money on top for home improvements. Now my fixed term is up I have realised that HSBC have split the money I borrowed from them into 2 separate accounts (1 mortgage and 1 homeowner loan). I did not request for these 2 to be kept separate as I just assumed I would owe more on my mortgage total rather than have a separate 'loan'.
Now that I am applying to different companies, they are asking for a mortgage number - but I essentially have 2 mortgages with HSBC (As they have allocated a mortgage number to the 'loan') I basically just want to port the total amount I owe HSBC to a different company.
Is this common practice with HSBC? Have they split the money into 2 piles to make it more difficult for me to leave them?
Any help/advice appreciated as always!

You can't port what you have with HSBC to another lender.
You raise a mortgage with the new lender for the total you need and this money is then used to pay back the money owed to HSBC.I am a Mortgage Adviser

Thanks Betmunch - The problem is have is that when I try to apply online with another company I have to submit my current mortgage number - and I have two numbers!0 -
Put the number for the first account.
The solicitors will not complete unless the full amount of money secured on the property is paid off regardless of if you have been able to give the new lender both numbers.
Also, there's may be a notes section at the end of the application which you could put in the second account numberI am a Mortgage Adviser
