Credit file cleanup

Hi, I know there is a sticky with all the information, however I can't find exactly what I need.

I was made bankrupt in June 2013 and discharged June 14.

Most of my accounts on Experian are marked as settled or satisfied, however they are a month after my Bankruptcy.

Does this matter much? I am thinking that they will fall off the account in July 19, 6 years 1 month after my bankruptcy, is this correct or should I really try and get them dated to the bankruptcy date?

My second question is regarding two accounts that have defaults and not settled. The defaults started around a month after my bankruptcy, so will these come off in 6 years after the first default date or should I really try getting them settled.

I have noticed that one of them seems to be have sold on to
Pco Holdco Sarl C/O Watch Portfolio Management.

Thanks, Wharty.

Yes, will fall off 6 years from the initial default date no matter what,

If one month out that is annoying and technically incorrect, but not a big thing unless you need it off your report that month for a big reason.

The unsettled one, likewise are annoying, but ultimately not a huge deal unless they are a problem. If me, being an awkward sod, I would want them set as settled or partially settled, as a "this is finished" gesture more than anything lese and to force acknowledgement from whoever holds the debt that it is done with. Up to you though.

Hi, as long as the default date is on or before your BR date then it's ok. The settled or satisfied date should be on or before your discharge date but it's not as important as the default date.

The accounts will drop off your credit file 6 years after the default date. This is why the default date is important. However, if it is only a month after your BR then it doesn't matter so much & it's up to you if you want to get them changed.

All it means is that the defaulted accounts will show for a month after your BR has dropped off.

With reference to the accounts not settled, this needs to be chased up. As above, default date on or before your BR & settled/satisfied date no later than your discharge date. I believe there are template letters in the sticky.

I have an account not settled that is now under PCO Holdco.... I'm sure it was my Barclaycard . This needs a letter to put it right too, just the same as the others.

Ok thanks, I suppose I was worried that the ones that are defaulting every month would stay on my file until they are settled or satisfied, even after 6 years.

I had read a story on here a while back about people who have the defaults still on the credit file after 10 years because they had done something incorrectly. Not sure how it happened though.

    Thanks, Wharty.

No, they are removed 6 years from the initial default date no matter what.

Thanks Fermi great advice as usual.

    One last question though?

What if the debts are sold on a month before the 6 years are up? would the default date change to the new collector, thus giving me another 6 years of it being on my file?

    Thanks, Wharty.

P.S No more questions I promise!

They are not "allowed" to change the default date.

That does not mean I have not heard of it happening, but you can get it sorted and maybe claim compensation if they do. ;)
