Hysterectomy help needed

I had a hysterectomy ten years ago and for the last two months have been suffering from pain in my right side. I've been for scans on my liver, kidneys, gallbladder and ovaries. All have come back as normal. On Saturday I noticed what I thought was a long hair from my hair coming out of my lady bits. After trying to pull it out I nearly passed out with the pain. Once I had calmed down I decided to go to the walk in centre. I was seen very quickly and told the doctor what I thought it was. After being examined he told me that it was not actually a hair but a stitch and that I also have further stitches high up with lots of discharge. The doctor took swabs etc and I have to see the gynaecologist on Monday to decide the course of action will be. I am beside myself with worry and feel very traumatised with the whole experience. Just wondered if anyone else could shed any light on the situation. Or if anyone has been through similar.
Many thanks in advance

Was it an abdominal hysterectomy or a laparoscopic procedure?

Sorry about the delay - I've been back and forth to hospital for various tests. It was a laparoscopy hysterectomy. The hospital have located and removed the rest of the stitches. I feel very in the dark at the moment and I have been referred to a specialist due to the on-going pain that I still have. I am now on antibiotics (co amoxiclav) but I am very tender after having five examinations. I will update once I know anything further.

Many thanks for your replies xx
