Private Medical Costs - Can I get NHS to pay?

After 6 weeks in pain my wife had seen 2 doctors and a nurse practitioner as well as having two "telephone consultations" resulting in 3 different failed "painkillers", a tube of Voltorol and a future appointment for physiotherapy while her pain continued.
I took her to nearest Spire. The doctor has brought her back into NHS for cancer treatment plan and kept her pain free for the last two weeks.
I have paid my £851 private bills but am wondering if anyone has ever tried to reclaim such costs from GP/NHS?
The costs are not for unusual private medical treatment. She saw a consultant and had an MRI that would be available in NHS but none of the GP staff chose to refer her. The pharmacy items could be obtained in NHS but only one had been prescribed by her GP and it is not one of the painkillers that failed.
Anyone been active in this sort of problem?

I don't think the NHS pays private medical bills. However there is a complaints system.

Although you have good reasons to go private, if you want private medical care then you either pay for it or get insurance for it. The NHS wont fund this for you.
