Can you put frozen veg in the slow cooker

Options
Just wondering as I'm thinking of getting a bag of frozen onions which will be more convenient and less waste for me with being on my own.

    The quick answer is yes.
Also, what you can do is defrost them first in warm/hot water if you're that bothered.

Thanks for your replies. Can you still put frozen veg in if the meat has been thawed out.

Yes, I've done it before. The veg doesn't need as long to cook as the meat does, so it's fine. I've put them all in together on a morning.

Yes chuck it all in. Onions don't really need that long so probably better to put in whilst frozen anyway.

Uncooked veg is very safe to eat...where uncooked raw meat isn't as safe to eat. After many hours in the slow cooker no matter if it (either the veg or the meat) was frozen when put in the cooker it'll all be cooked sufficiently. As long as it's all hot throughout then it can be eaten safely.
