Help with fixing scratched leather suite

Options
I hope one of you clever 'old stylers' can help me. I'm almost in tears here cos my sons cats have scratched my leather suite. It's in three places that are really obvious and each scratch is about 2-3 inches long.

I didn't want to get the cats in the first place but I bluddy hate them now!! I'venot long finished paying for the suite on a 4 year dfs deal, and it was still in immaculate condition untl this, and I still loved it (which, believe me is nothing short of a miracle with me!)

Any help or advice appreciated - thanks in advance x

Firstly is it covered on your house insurance?

Secondly, I see you're in the North East, these repaired mine as when it was delivered it had a tear http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Photos.htm might be worth giving them a call, you can't see where mine was fixed.

Invest in a scratching post, I wouldn't have cats because of the leather sofa (well my partner dislikes them aswell) my dogs do get on the sofa but don't seem to cause any damage. Apart from the muck as it's cream leather.

They say rubbing a little clove oil where they scratch stops them.
One day I might be more organised...........

  • Id never thought about claiming on the house insurance - will check that! I'll also check out that company you recommendd, cheers.

I had a scratching post for the cats, but they wouldn't use the damn thing! I just don't let them in the sitting room when we're not in there but we've just come back from holiday and the girl who was feedinthem must've let them in one day grrrrrrr

sorry, no real solution other than: are you insured? When we bought our suite, we took out insurance for it as the kids were little in case it got damaged etc. never had to claim though.

    Sadly no....

I've tried a polish with Mr Sheen.. :o and at first it did make the scratches go dark and less noticeable. I'm so cross with myself.

Apart from loads of cushions... I really don't know what to do. Had hoped that 'an old remedy' or some such like may materialise with someone knowledgeable! I'll not give up hope! :D

    Hi jeannieblue,

Unfortunately I don't think that there is an Old Style way to get rid of scratches on leather. There was a recent thread on this and nobody had any old style solutions for them either. I'll add your thread to the other one to keep the replies together.
