Dyslexia can mean difficulties with the sequencing, organising, reading, remembering and understanding of business information. It can also mean difficulties with time perception and time management.

    Apparently.

Absolutely right. And it is very possible to develop strategies to cope with each of those problems - as done by many many dyslexics every day.

My understanding from a limited course ive taken is that a series of acts will alter the time line.

That answer does not make the DDA exist - it hasn't since 2010.

You have been asked this - what "acts" do you think are discriminatory, what reasonable adjustments do you expect from the employer, and what makes you think that your friend can get an adjustment to a job that it appears they simply cannot do. It isn't discrimination if someone cannot do the job that the employer needs doing. A disability is not a free pass.

my son is 24 has semantic pragmatic language disorder and quite severe aspergers

NEVER has he used his disability as a reason ( I want to type excuse!) for missing deadlines - he gets quite anxious and yet is one of the most reliable, hardworking people I know - he has TAUGHT himself to prioritise his workload and has a range of coping mechanisms which help him in the workplace.

Dyslexia is not an adequate excuse for failing to complete the requirements of your friends job.
and what "reasonable adjustments" do you think could have been made? if deadlines were given VERBALLY - then surely that constitutes a reasonable adjustment ?

I suppose in school anyone dyslexic gets 25% extra time in exams, so perhaps they just assume the same thing happens in the world of employment??

    1. There are plenty of jobs where dyslexia won't affect your performance

    2. In other jobs, a dyslexic should know their limitations, and thus know what means need to be put in place to allow them to complete their work and meet their deadlines. It is their own responsibility to ask for these things.

    3. Dyslexia should never be used as an excuse. Most dyslexics would be embarrassed by the above.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Some people with dyslexia mights truggle with meeting deadlines. Some incompetent people do to. How is the employer expected to know which one it is? Was the issue around dyslexia ever discussed, adjustments asked from the start rather than after they missed deadlines? Did they take any responsibility for dealing with their disability and ensuring adjustments were put in place to not damage the employer's productivity?

    Responsibility goes both ways.
