Afternoon all and well done to Maria's daughter!
I've now been paid and have already splashed out on mugs and side plates to match my new birthday present dinner plates and pasta bowls. I also bought a takeaway curry last night to celebrate the Big Brother finalbut I plan to make that my only takeaway this month.
Last night I called DH's mobile briefly (or so I thought) from the house phone and only realised 40 minutes later that I hadn't disconnected (though he had so not sure how that will work out) so am expecting a big bill
This weekend I am planning to do more prettying up of my garden. It is more of a yard (all paved) and small and L shaped but I have been in a bit of a quandary about what to do.
The bit of the L at the back has nice slabs and lots going on (honeysuckle growing over the wall etc) whereas the side is just concrete and a bit dark and dull. There is one long fence that spans both areas that has small railway-sleeper like bits of wood at the foot (all part of my fruitless plans to try to contain my cats.) I'm planning on getting rid of them as I think it will make the side bit look a bit wider (every little helps, it's only the width of a car and will visually add another 6 inches of floor space) but I'm undecided whether to cover the earth with granite chips around the edge to maintain the little extra space or to plant it with something pretty along the full length of the fence to make it seem like more part of the garden.
There are still basketfuls of packs of Cosmos seeds at work which ideally should have been planted a couple of months back (mine are flowering at the moment) but, as they're free and plentiful, I think I'm going to sow them along the length and see what happens and if it doesn't have the desired effect I can always replace them with the slate chips at a later date.
We're going to see the house on Saturday that was looking by default to be 'the' one but one of DS's workmates reminded him of a huge estate that is going to be built near there shortly which may explain why it hasn't sold thus far. I will take the opportunity while I'm in the are to leaflet the ground floor flats of a small development that I would happily live on and see if there is any response.
I spent the other evening at A&E with chest pains where they ruled out a heart attack and it's looking more likely to be stress related (I wake every morning with a tightening in my chest and palpitations.) I can well believe it is stress related except theoretically I should be feeling stress free this week as my boss is on holiday in an internet devoid area but maybe the last few months have taken their toll :rotfl:
I also think the ongoing money worries don't help and am very much leaning towards a flat rather than a house so I can be mortgage free. There's so much stuff I would like to be doing that I can't do when I am working 40 hours per week. I've given up on the idea of illustrating the children's book I have an idea for myself but with no mortgage and just a little work I could afford to commission just one sample illustration to submit the idea to publishers (which is all that is needed.)
I also want to get cracking on drawing a good few maps of major cities to either upload to a picture library or to a website of my own if I can find an cheapish off-the-shelf site with a shopping basket.
Since designing my dad's order of service (after seeing the horrid designs the funeral directors charge hundreds for) I've been meaning to upload some onto ebay but, since it's so time crucial to the customer, I'm a little worried about doing it with no backup printer but with a little spare cash I could buy a spare printer.
Any how, once again, no actual 'small things' (apart from my free seeds maybe) and lots of rambling.

Hi Everyone
Late check in from me today. The shop was extremely busy which makes it 5 great days trade this week and the 2nd busiest week since we reopened. I still have a private party this Sunday which will boost things even more so it may turn out being the best week yet. However I am realistic. The summer holidays starting have always signalled a quiet period because everyone changes routine or a lot go away at the same time. So I'm seeing this week for what it is, a great week and good to have had it.
Hannah - what is the new class out of interest?
Ziggy - thanks for noticing the sig. I'm surprised myself how much the wombling total is now. Did your son enjoy the theme park day out by the way?
Maria - great news on your daughters exams. Clever girl! Hope your geese eggs aren't dead that would be sad.
Determined - Do you feel that the fact you can recognise the depression coming on a good sign? As in can you take steps to keep in a good place? Or is it all too hard to predict anyway? You have been through such a lot. Hugs to you.
FVD - I'm so sorry to hear you wake up in that manner every day, it must be really horrible. Glad they've ruled out the more serious possibilities. Stress is awful.
Foxgloves -Sounds like you are back on tip top form after the flu period. So glad.
Ally - hope the Indian was good. What did you have?
Dawn - hope you have a lovely weekend with your older grandkids.
Enjoyyourshoes - Nice to meet a fellow Buffet fan. He doesn't get much mention on these boards. Have you read his autobiography? It's really interesting.
Floella - good luck with all your organising
Small things for me today.

Home alone tonight and I've just done an inventory of the fridge/freezer/cupboards prior to doing an online order. We have 4 meals still in there and enough bacon/hash browns/tomatoes to rustle up breakfast tomorrow morning too. (And I found a rogue almond croissant too which is currently defrosting, result!) :T
That is indeed an impressive roadkill amount, Bob, I am joining you nowadays but have only found about 45p so farI'm doing far better on wombling though but customer services are getting a bit stroppy now and will only put 2 or 3 on at a time
