Ramoska .. Any tips ?

Hi guys
My mam has picked me up a ramoska from the booty so I am hoping to put it to use as all to often the oven goes on for just a few bits ... But does anyone have any tips ?
From what I've read it just seems like you use it instead of an oven, I'm just not sure on how long to cook or if it is cheaper to run ?

It's a great size and any recipes suggestions would be fab ... My boys don't eat anything that is saucy or runny except things in gravy so casseroles etc are great but curries pasta etc is a no go, they also don't eat beans or anything that is in sauce like this either :o
They do love meat and gravy based dishes or ribs etc ..

Like I said any advice or tips would be fab
Thanks

You can probably get Remoska recipe book from Lakeland but here are a few ideas:
BBQ ribs - cut up lots of spare ribs, place in Remoska with whichever BBQ sauce or marinade you prefer, cook for about 40 mins swishing them over about half time, finish under grill for caramelised finish. The meat will fall off the bone!

A small joint of meat (one that does not touch the lid when in the Remoska) will cook in under an hour and will be really tender and it keeps moist due to the small cooker retaining moisture around it.

We also use ours for chicken portions (they'll crisp up nicely!).

my SIL makes a fab chocalate pudding in hers but I've never tried that, enough calories are consumed in my house without THAT!!

hope this helps get you started.:)

The choc pudding sounds good too but thinking along the same lines as you ...

Your Mum was so lucky to find one at a booty. They are few and far between . Don't know how much she paid for it as they are pretty pricey to buy. I use mine every day and only use my big oven when I am batch baking.Along with my slow cooker its great for cutting back on how much electric you use.

Basically you are right, it is a small compact oven. When you live alone as I do, often putting the big oven on for just me seemed a waste and I invested in my 'moska around 3 years ago. I only bought the standard one which then was around £100.00 God knows what it costs today. The Grande one is even more expensive but I think its paid for itself in lower bills.

Great for an additional oven if your doing a lot of cooking.I make my DGS HM potato wedges in it for a quick snack ,and reheating things like pies, pastries etc is a doddle, and you get them crispy, not damp and soggy like from a m'wave.

I love doing a jacket spud in the m'wave then crisping it up in the 'moska.I can do pork chops brilliantly in half the time plus its just one pot to wash up

Thanks Jackie ... Yeah it seemed like a good find she paid £2

I've told her to look for one of the heated towel rails for over the winter next ☺️

It does seem like a good size especially as I normally cook the boys dinners seperate to mine (there's is always ready for after school) and hoping anything to cut the electric bills will help ...
Think I might ask my dad to pick me up some spuds from the fruit man at his booty and do them for while the boys are on holidays ..

    Thanks

Wow I'd buy your Mum some chocolate or a bunch of flowers she's got you a real bargain there.:):):)
  • I have had my Remoska for a long number of years. I originally bought it for the caravan but it soon migrated to the kitchen, I cook all sorts in it and there are several websites with recipes on, but basically anything you can cook in the oven you can cook in the remoska. I often use it to make a quick ring of scones when visitors almost catch me out and you can also cook a decent sponge cake in it, rice pudding is good too, I have also cooked a small chicken in it, its very versatile.

Good buy for £2 I paid £45 for mine about 15 years ago......

That's useful but I think a bit OTT at times - I could never see the point of cooking something like bacon and eggs in the Remoska, for a start.
