Some five years or so ago, I was pressured into the sales talk of buying a mobile which I couldn't afford with a contract. I decided that the mobile had to be returned, and a friend promised to do it for me. Only to find this friend had not returned the mobile to the shop only started using it, and raised a substantial phone bill along the way. Eventually, the mobile phone people made contact with me demanding phone re-payments ( named First - Point actually ). I told my mum about this, and she informed First Point that the phone had been returned by my friend ( at the time, and was just a bully in the end ), to the shop where it was bought initially. First Point took the details of when it was supposedly returned, and were dealing with the information from this. I then went to live with my dad in Manchester for a couple of years.
Just today, I received a letter which did not state what the contact was about, and just to ring a number about something personal. I did, and found that First Point had sold their debts to Mckenzie Hall in Kilmarnock Scotland, and were demanding £ 230 odd pounds as outstanding debt. I informed them that First Point were contacted from the start of this, and they were looking into the problem, and did not hear any more from this.
I have been in contact with citizens advice and they told me to just deal with these people by letter, and provide in the letter a brief detail of events. Any advice would be helpful, as I now have a baby in need of a heart operation, and do not need this sort of harassment right now or ever come to that. Thanks
