Loan approved in principle

Hi there, just looking a bit of advice.

I have been approved in principle by Tesco, all they required was 1 month bank statement. I received the paperwork with the apr (5.1% not 3.6% advertised), ive signed and returned it.

This is the first time this has ever happended to me. I have never had a late payment of default on any of my credit agreements. Is this normal procedure? I was under the impression i had been accepted but now im not so sure!
What are the final checks they complete?
Thanks in advance #confused
