Hi saw this deal on HotUKD, using promo code, seems a good price, i'm after a cheapish but decentish bike to poodle around with my wife and 6 year old daughter.
Been to Halfords to get measured up 20" fits well, am poised to order just wanted to see peoples thoughts as i'm rather clueless when it comes to bikes,(recently bought a second hand one on ebay a Trek for £72 practically fell to bits on 2nd ride complete junk so sold it on for £28!) Clearly i'm not going to make my fortune dealing bikes.
Am also wary of Halfords as reviews vary considerably Kettering is my local store.
thoughts/comments appreciated thanks

"Decentish" will vary greatly between individuals. Look at what you want the bike to do before choosing a specific model. Do you need suspension, or will it only be used on roads/paths? Do you need the ability to carry stuff like shopping/picnics? Will you be going up lots of hills? What sort of distances and speeds are you thinking of riding?
Once you get the answers right you can get the bike right, then you'll use it more. It's only numbers.0 -
Mostly be riding around my village and country roads not huge milage (certainly not at first), live near pitsford reservoir which had a nice cycle path round it so plan on some rides around there, not planning on carrying much as thats what wife is for, seriously would probably take a rucksack if needed.
i dont think i need a suspension as ive read this just adds weight.0 -
There's several recommendations on here for the Carrera Subway as a really good value entry level hybrid and at that price i'd snap it up.
I've got one myself as a backup to my road bike and for the money I don't think I could have got anything close to it, especially if you're looking for a fixed suspension hybrid with disc brakes.0
