Hello,

Looking to get a mortgage with my partner, and would appreciate some advice from the community here.

I've got terrible credit rating (just over 500), my partner has a fantastic one (700+ probably, 5/5).

We have a large(ish) deposit, £50,000. And stable full time jobs, £40,000 (me), £28,000 (her).

What's the best way to go about getting the mortgage? Will the combo of her good score and the deposit help? She could be the only one on the mortgage, but this would limit what we could buy to studios (in London....arg).

Appreciate your thoughts.

James

Scores are worthless, as SPM says.
Sadly though it does not work like the title suggests though. It can do, but only in the rare of cases and it still needs to fit criteria etc.

As suggested, get your credit reports (experian, equifax, noddle) in front of a decent experienced broker.
