Calor gas cylinders

Options
Hi all,

Does anyone know anywhere that could take an empty 13kg propane calor gas cylinder (the red one), in exchange for a patio gas propane cylinder (the grey one)?

Local calor dealer says they can only do a like for like swap i.e. give me another red one, unless I pay for a patio gas cylinder. The problem is that our old bbq which we have just replaced used the red cylinder, but the regulator on the new bbq is a clip on type that only connects to the grey patio gas type cylinder.

Any help appreciated!

Can you not just fit the old regulator on the new BBQ?
  • Would prefer not to change the regulator as it will affect the warranty if anything goes wrong. That and the patio gas cylinder would be more useful to have and easier to use in general.

Sometimes they are available on gumtree. Or post a wanted ad on gumtree or freegle.

Try a petrol station that does gas cylinders. They will sometimes swap them for you.

Sorry for jumping in, but how much would a 2nd hand patio gas cylinder fetch? I have one complete with regulator and hose, sadly the patio heater rusted in less than 12 months so it went in a skip....lol...who needs heat in the back garden when you're having drinks anyway
No two ways about this one: Anything Free is not a Basic Right..it had to be earned...by someone, somewhere

Whenever i take rubbish and recycling to my civic amenity site i see a vast selection of all types of gas cylinders........they may not let you have one but they may let you swap one.......2 or 3 pound coins usualy do the trick.
