Council tax banding for new builds

Hi there,

Just wondering how they work out council tax banding for houses being built in 2015?

We are in the process of havnig our house built at the moment, 3 bed detached, does anyone know how they work out the banding for a house of this type?

The same as for houses built in 2014, 2013, 1989, 1963 and 1881 - it is based on what the house would have sold for on 1 April 1991, had it been in existence at that date.

So look at the banding of similar size recently built houses in the area, for a rough idea.

Except in Wales, where it's 1 April 2003.:)

I called the local valuation office to see if they have given my new build a band. Unfortunately they had a big back log so whilst they'd had my plans (and plans for the whole development) for months they hadn't gotten round to it! Give them a call to check - you've nothing to lose.
