in Cutting tax
I work with a couple of contractors who have been here solidly for almost two years and being paid upwards of 1 per day
All are going through umbrella companies to avoid tax.
How do I report them to HMRC for investigation?

"An Umbrella Company removes the burden of IR35. By operating as an employee of an Umbrella Company, the IR35 rules do not apply to you! This means you can work as a contractor without the worry of any additional tax bills and penalties."

'1 per day' isn't much is it?
I would hate to be your colleague, always looking into things that don't concern you or in fact understand."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Being paid through an Umbrella company is NOT illegal as long as it is done correctly.
That's why there are so many businesses out there for contractors to provide this service.
If you're jealous of the fact these people are earning so much money then you should consider the fact that they don't get paid holiday, don't get company pensions, don't get sick pay, don't get all other company benefits such as medical cover, staff discounts, don't get redundancy, don't get the lengthy paid notice periods of permanent staff etc. They also have to pay their umbrella company, spend time filing expenses, etc, etc.
I've done both and although contracting is more lucrative it's more lucrative for a reason.0 -

There is a simple three stage process for you to follow:
1. Take poker and heat it until red hot.
2. Remove trousers.
3. Ask one of the contractors to insert poker.Hideous Muddles from Right Charlies0 -
Well why ask us when you know all the answers yourself? Although there's still nothing in what you've said to indicate that there has been any tax evasion (you do understand the difference between 'evasion' and 'avoidance' don't you?).0 -
Wow!
What a helpful and friendly set of responses.
Not to worry - I've reported my suspicions to HMRC and will let them handle it
Each of us have a civic duty to report suspected tax evasion.0
