NatWest Mortgage

Hello, I'm having an awful time with NatWest. My and my husband put an application through in March and we are still waiting for it to be finalised. There have been many holdups due to them not putting information on their system or simply dragging their heels. Our mortgage advisor has occasionally spent half an hour or more waiting to talk to somebody. Now we are waiting on them putting a report through which will tell them how much the house is worth. This is causing me personally a lot of unnecessary stress. Is there anything that can be done?

Last month Nat West caused us a trouble and we had to make two 60 minutes phone calls two days running to address a trivial error their end - it does happen.

Four months does sound outrageous though and your advisor looks suspect as a result - it should not take that long if handled correctly no matter how bad the lender is.

    Have you tried hitting them?
  • Hi,

That does sound quite ridiculous. I have done alot of applications with Natwest/RBS in the last few months and no problems whatsoever.

Things do happen but your broker should be able to escalate it through his BDM. What stage is the application at exactly? Has the survey been carried out? Is there anything unusual about the application?

I'm surprised that you haven't changed the lender and that the estate agents are still holding the property for you.

I think it's dangerous for any broker to assume NatWest is doing something if it's quiet.

NatWest has a nasty knack of not asking for something, then telling you they've been waiting for it for a week when you call and ask for an update.
