electric fire labelled as 'shelf wear'

I've seen some new electric fires at an online store labelled as 'shelf wear.' It says that the fires are being sold at a cheap price because the box shows signs of shelf wear. But the product inside is brand new, high quality with no damage such as scratches or dents.
Just wondering if any has any experience of buying such products. If the boxes are a bit battered is the product likely to have faults that aren't visible?

As long as there are no visible faults they should be fine. If you are buying them online you are covered by the Distance Selling Regulations so you can return it (I think it's within 14 days) if you're not satisfied for any reason at all. Unless they've stated they are not working you are also covered by the Sale of Goods Act if you find they don't work, as well as any warranty they might offer.0

'Shelf Wear' ??
Sounds more like Argos or other catalogue returns to me !!!0 -
Also know as "tatty box", I'd have no qualms about buying as long as they are not trying (legally or illegally) to restrict your rights with words like sold as seen.0
