I went self managed as I wasn't getting anywhere - now am on no interest for almost all creditors and defaults racking up - and the rest are threatening defaults... I have had to be really organised (not a skill I have naturally!) and have had to face dealing with creditors myself which I was in no state to do at the beginning but has been overall a positive experience.
Thanks Karen, I have made a formal complaint now so hopefully things will begin to happen.
I have so many cards that the easiest thing to do was to go with Step Change but I think now after 14 months with them I feel up to sorting this out myself. Esspecially if their payment dates are going to mean further costs are applied to the accounts. :(
  • OK, panicking a little now. Hubby just said that Lowells asked if we were working and did we own our home, to which he replied yes to both. Does anybody know if this makes a difference in terms of how they deal with the debt. We don't owe them a huge amount but worrying now. Has anyone any experience with them? Thanks

    Hi everyone

Nothing much to report from January household, but I just wanted to touch base with you all and say hello :)

I can't believe we are fast approaching our 8th DMP payment. I know this is 'early days' compared to my fellow long term DMPers ;)

Still a long slog ahead - but I know we will do it. We are aiming to reduce the term of our DMP as much as we can along the way, but if for whatever reason we can't we will be okay with that.

    Happy DMPing everyone :)

Could be they were just updating their records for future info?

Thanks Sazzie and yes possibly. They said aa long as we paid every month the plan will continue. Rationale thinking needs to prevail I think!!! Thanks again.

Everybody has asked me that :) !! At the start, around 3 to 4 years ago it did freak me out a bit and I thought 'why are they asking that?'

They are ticking their boxes. Yes, at the end of the day we do know why they are asking but keep in regular contact, answer them when they want to speak to you and pay 'something.' Nothing nasty will then happen.

Don't worry......there's nothing to fear from DCA's and they are almost exclusively very pleasant :D !!
  • Some cheery news for Friday morning. One of my favourite PDL's sent me a delightful e-mail yesterday advising that the were 'Sorry' and have realised that I couldn't actually afford the loan I took out with them 12 odd months ago. Apparently an error when applying their very strict lending criteria. The long and short of it is they have reduced the loan to zero balance and are going to refund me a further £500 ish; including £50 as compensation for the upset.

    Great start to the w-e.
    LBM debt £75,212, debt today = £50,258
Percentage of debt paid = 33.2%
    LBM creditors 16, creditors today = 9

Ok so I'm in the process of applying for my dmp, do I have to include my husbands income as these debts are in my name and they are my responsibility. I'm not asking for him to help pay them however he does pay his half of the household bills?

    Hi,
I am on a dmp and like you these are my debts not my partners. I included what he contributes to the house, I think on the budget you complete it has income which was mine and then partner I left as zero and put what he contributes in under rent/board received. Hope that makes sense!
