YNAB is amazing isn't it. I love putting extra income into the pots, even if it is only the child benefit or a refund from something!0 -
For those who have offered f and f, what kind of time response did you get? I realise it'll vary.
I have one cc with a small balance managed by DCA. I offered settlement last August and got no response at all, so I thought lets go straight to the organ grinder! This will be a last ditch effort, if no luck then I guess they're happy with a fiver a monthLBM.....sometime in 2013 £27,056. 10 creditors

Great idea of someone to have a sticky, I think we did consider it once before then didn't do it?
Two problems there.
(1) MSE like all there sticky threads in one place on each board, as it's official information, ie, the recognised thing to do, in responce to specific incidents, letters you may receive, things of that nature.
(2) Most of the information regarding DMP's is not official, for example you would not get a stepchange debt advisor telling you to stop payments until you are defaulted, its information gleaned from years of experience by myself and others who contribute to this thread, but it is mostly opinion, and not official policy.
This makes it difficult to put in a sticky as it implies official MSE policy, when really it isn't, even though for most people, it's the right advice to take.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Perhaps one of us could pull together an FAQ which we regularly copy and paste near the very top of each new Mutual Support thread. Obviously we would make it clear the answers are based on the shared knowledge and experiences of existing members of the thread who are either going through, or have completed, a DMP themselves. We could make it very clear the information does not represent the views/advice of MSE itself, nor that of any other DMP support organisation such as SC or PP etc.
Obviously only one of us could post it - but in reality it would be prepared through a joint effort of discussion on the forum of what are FAQs and how we would answer them.
Would that be an acceptable solution?DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

That's probebly the way forward actually.
We're not too far off a new thread now, as this one is getting quite long.

Thanks
Will wait to hear from you. In the meantime I will start thinking of those FAQs we keep getting and perhaps other regulars can post up ideas. No harm - if we are allowed great....and if we're not, well the posts are in the general thread for people to read or not as they want:jDFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
So, as this thread is getting quite large, in the not too distant future we shall be starting a new one.
One of the changes I intend to make will be to add an FAQ section at the beginning, as suggested by EmmaMicawber the other day.
So if anyone has any specific info, they would like to see added, please PM me with it.
Can I please ask you all ladies and gents, to keep it fairly brief, no long essays please, as it's impossible to include every question someone may want the answer to, it's mainly what a complete newbie would want to know about the basics.
This would be in the form of information from experiance, rather than what a debt advisor would recomend.

Its an utterly compromised system we are stuck with, and is not fit for purpose in my opinion.
So whoever holds your account now, will have to go back to the original creditor, and get the required paperwork to prove the debt is enforceable, remember its perfectly acceptable to send a reconstituted version, it does not have to be the original piece of paper.
Can take a couple of months or more to action.
well took more like a couple of days not a couple of months before i get a letter stating that to comply with their obligations under the cca act 1974 here is a statement of your account then there are a few balances etc.
I have read enough of the threads on here to know this is not really what was required of a cca request. Maybe they send this then as you say contact the original lender for the rest of the information which I will now wait for and I am carrying on doing nothing until then.0 -

A statement is only part of the requirement of a CCA request.
To be valid, it must include a copy agreement or a reconstituted copy agreement.

Kindest Regards
