Morning all
SC statement day, though I tend to wait a few days until my Noddle report is ready before I update the spreadsheet and work estimate my DFD.
Have increased payments by a third this month so the DFD should go down a bit hopefully.
Am in the process of switching accounts as my bills account had been a fee paying account. Unfortunately thought I'd set up a transfer if money to the new bills account and hadn't so I'm backtracking everything to get the money in to pay all the bill. I think it's worked but the new account doesn't show the money going on or out yet, very confusing,
Have a great BH everyone.Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

I thought I was on to a nice potential little earner as I bank with Nationwide and they have an offer of cash if you introduce a friend and they open an account there:j.
OH is getting out of Santander and thought NW sounded good after I was forever singing its praises. He intends to open an account with all the bells and whistles. Sadly, I only have the Basic account there, opened when I started my DMP, and it's one of the accounts that don't qualify. At least, that's how I understand it. Maybe it means someone opening a Basic account doesn't qualify and it doesn't matter what sort of account the referrer has. I've confused myself now:o
Must check again as I'd hate to lose the chance of some free money;)
Enjoy your long weekend, everyone. I hope the sun is shining on you wherever you are:beer:0 -
carbootcrazy - I had the same problem with N@twest. Tried to change my basic account to a rewards account. Even though I've been with them for 14 years and never been in debt with them, they wouldn't let me because I'm on a DMP.

Hi all
Just a quick query about going self-managed (and I do apologise as I know this subject has been done to death!) which I can't find in the many screen shots I have already saved.
So - if I wanted to go self managed and I had, for example, £300 for debt repayment, how would I decide which creditor got which amount? We have four creditors, one would get £1 until a default is issued but how do you decide how to the spilt the remaining £299 three ways?
Many thanks

Hi - we're self managed and I used the north east debyshire CAB (NEDCAB) site. It's really good and works it all out for you and produces letters. I would split your £300 between the 4 creditors and then reduces the Un - defaulted one to £1 and use the money saved towards F&FS / emergency fund etc.
Hope that helpsLBM 2/12/15 - total debt £62500:shocked::shocked::exclamati::eek:

That seems a very sensible idea and great advice. Hope all is well in the world of sunshineDebt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Thank you - we're getting there. DD is ok ( most of the time!). I've applied for and got DLA for her - fell off my chair when we got the letter!
I wrote to all our creditors and explained our situation ( enclosed a brief psychiatrist letter) and said I would pay £1 until September and begin our self managed dmp then. This is our 5th month of TP - only 1 default out of 6. I've had some very nice letters back and 1 bizarre automated letter.
I wrote to them because I just needed some mental breathing space! I'm also hoping a few months of TP's will force defaults.LBM 2/12/15 - total debt £62500:shocked::shocked::exclamati::eek:

We stuck with SC payment amounts and used NEDCAB letters. Only none SC amounts had to be our 'friends' at BC who we are still ignoring...not our choice but forced into it by their refusal to engage with our DMP...
Good luck self managing - is fine and gives you much more control.DMP since August 2011

Afternoon - not been on for a while as have been dealing with a nasty turn of events in the form of a newly dignosed heart condition (im in my 40s!). Anyway it will mean I can't earn quite as much and our self managed dmp offers will need to go down a tad.
Seems such a pity after getting agreement from everyone and defaults from most. I am scared of upsetting the apple cart.
I have to be very careful and not get stressed particular while I'm getting used to some hefty medicine Inc beta blockers.
Anyway! I'm posting for some reassurance I guess...we have a huge debt, income which has shrunk by 50% and now me with the ticker of a 70 year old. I live in utter dread of legal action by creditors mainly because I don't want to have to deal with it in terms of court papers visits etc and also in terms of the risk to our home.
I was wondering whether switching to SC now and letting them take the stress might be a good idea?
Thank you lovely peeps.Travelling hopefully 🏃0 -

Hi muppetscotland,
So sorry to hear about your health issues, you make sure you look after yourself.
I found dealing with SC very simple and stress free so maybe that would be a good thing to do, you can always switch back to self managing at a later date if you feel up to it. i guess it depends how much hassle your currently getting from your creditors.
