    Thanks so much Puzz.

I just called them and it seems you were correct, departments don't seem to be communicating with each other. He was very nice, asked if I was working with SC and said yes. Asked if it was just advice or setting up DMP and I said I am just sorting my I&E with them but am offering token payments as per my two previous letters I have sent. He said that was fine, he will update notes on my account and put on hold for another 30 days to allow time for SC to be in contact.

I guess if I want extra time after 30 days are lapsed, I will need to find a way to stall?

Seems the scary letter  wasn't so bad after all and I explained my shock when it said about visiting my home despite my two letters to them and he was very nice x

    :T Well done you :T

  • Evening all - I've been reading through a load of old posts, which are invaluable, and love to read people's signature to see their progress. One thing I do often notice though is the large amounts that seem to be getting paid back. I know with the cessation (hopefully) of interest and chages debts come down faster but the reality is that will only have about 5% per year to pay back. I make that a DFD in 20 years!!

Does that make a unsuitable candidates for a DMP?

    Thankyou

20 years is a LONG time in my books.

Sorry, don't know if we've covered this before or not, but are Bankrucy or IVA a possibility ?

When we first started on ours we were looking at 30+ years and SC were not overly worried. We have managed to knock it down to 25 years now but plan on clearing it quicker still. It is a long time but I have never liked the sound of any of the other options.

    Hi,

I have not heard of anyone previously being threatened by a visit by an original creditor and can't really imagine it happening, or even if they would be allowed to do it (assuming they are sending a member of NW staff round...?).

    Puzz. x

I had a visit without warning from someone dealing with my B...card. I had received no notification of my debt being sold, so assumed it was someone from their collections dept. My adult son duly performed duties as my bodyguard lol. The guy wanted me to ring them from his phone which I did as saw no other choice. I reiterated what I had written to them and couldn't pay and that was pretty much

    No heavy handed stuff whatsoever
    LBM.....sometime in 2013 £27,056. 10 creditors
June 20.....£7,587.....3 creditors left 72% paid

£26,200 on interest only part of mortgage (July 16)...will chip away £17,103
    £49,200 repayment mortgage ( July 16) £37,764

Home visits are quite rare, more likley if you are in a city, where they can visit numerous people in one go, you don't have to deal with these people, they are self employed collectors, no more power than the postman has to come round your house.

You can ignore them completely, nothing they can do about it.

Certain lenders/DCA's employ them as people are easily talked into making agreements when the chap is sat in your kitchen.

They have the incentive of a bonus if they get money out of you, best to avoid them really, deal in writing only.

I didn't even let him through the gate and with my strapping young son stood with arms folded puffing himself out, I doubt the little weasel would dare try anything else

  • I've just checked my noddle account and I'm being defaulted every month by my four creditors, even though I pay them on time and with the amount agreed. According to noddle this has been happening every month since I got taken to DC! I thought that it defaulted once and then you just made payments on them. Am I incorrect or do I have a problem? I want to have a mortgage at some point in the next ten years and really could do with these not defaulting every month til my DFD (June 2019!)

    Hi,

They don't default you every month, once an account defaults it stays on your file for six years, regardless of what payment arrangement you have.
They are just recording the defaulted status on a monthly basis, which is quiet correct.

Six years from default date, they will disappear.
