Has anyone got any tips for freshing up the dishwasher? I really don't want to have to buy the expensive fresheners from the supermarket.

I actually needed the same thing, and like you didn't want to buy something expensive from the shops. I was shopping in ASDA the other week and noticed they had a whole new secion, and everything was £1. A whole heap of stuff, like pot scrubers (4 pack) to car cleaning things to crafts for the kids. I found a pack (I think 3) of dishwasher refreshers, and its been great. A big difference. £1....happy!Lightbulb moment Sept 06.0

I've heard something about putting half a lemon in there?
Haven't tried it myself though.0 -

I think the half a lemon does something funny to the dishwasher; read it on here somewhere................... Eats through the cutlery or somethign?0

No... you put the lemon in or run it empty...or you can run a complete empty wash with a cup of white vinegar in the machine

I run mine on empty with some soda crystals in it & make sure the filter is cleaned properly (I even did it with a spot of bleach one time- a very small spot).Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0

I agree with half a lemon - and once it's been through the wash, you can put salt on it, and use it for scrubbing tarnish off of pots....Is it payday yet?
