Basically I have now decided I am definately going to declare myself bankrupt. I have debts totalling £45k and am 22 years old. Although I brought this on myself most people do stupid things when they are young right.....
I just need to know how an IPO/IPA will be made if at all it will when I speak to the OR. Basically I earn around £2300 per month after tax (commission based).
My outgoings I have put as follows:
Rent: 695
Housekeeping: 300
Gas/Electric: 100
Water: 40
Telephone: 70
Travel to and from work and other journeys: 300
Clothing: 200
Maintenance: 400
Council Tax: 120
Firstly I want to know are these figures realistic? I live in my own as my girlfriend and baby have just left me as I am working so many hours to earn that money. The travel to and from work figure is because I need to drive around an extra 100 miles per week to see my ill mother who cannot walk. I help her with shopping etc. I have agreed with my partner to pay her £400 per month towards my child.
I just dont want the OR to lower these payments and make me pay back around £400 a month or something like that into the bankruptcy. I would not end up being better off then as miminum payments etc total around £5-600pm.
Does the OR go over everything with a tooth combe!?
Thanks for your help.

As you live alone, I would say your figures are a bit high to be accepted. Your housekeeping will be reduced to approx £200. £100 gas/electric seems high for a single person, but I could be wrong. Travel again is high, but if you can demonstrate that really is what you spend I can't see that you will have a problem. You are allowed a limit of £40 for clothing. £400 also seems high for maintenance, but I don't know much about levels are set for this.
The OR does go over everything, yes.BCSC Member 70:j

I can definitely see an IPA coming from a salary of that much. I earn £1450 a month and have an IPA of £324 a month. £300 IMHO will be seen as too high for housekeeping. gas/electric the same. I pay £52 a month between them but I suppose it would depend on how insulated your house is I suppose. Clothing is definitely too high at £200.
What does telephone cover? If mobile, I was allowed my £30 contract which is quite a few minutes and texts so £70 may not be accepted.
Don't know about the £400 maintenance as I don't have children.
Don't forget though, on the flip side you can put down haircuts, TV, laundry/dry cleaning, opticians, dentists and birthdays/xmas/holidays (some ORs allow these, others don't).0 -
